Director/Senior Speech Pathologist

Shannon Tomlinson

Hi, I’m Shannon. I’m a passionate and experienced Speech Pathologist with a heart for helping children and families thrive.

I began studying Speech and Hearing at Macquarie University in 2011. I later transferred to the University of Newcastle, seeking a more practical, real-life learning environment. I graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) in July 2015.

My career began at Aspect Vern Barnett School, where I worked as the sole Speech Pathologist supporting all 160 autistic students. Following additional experience across various private practices, I stepped into a new role as Clinical Lead and Senior Speech Pathologist. My focus was on mentoring new graduate speech pathologists, supervising the broader speech pathology team, and delivering professional development workshops for parents, teachers, and other allied health professionals including psychologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

I have always known I wanted to be a speech pathologist. I attended speech therapy myself at the age of three due to selective mutism and speech sound difficulties. I loved it so much that I told everyone I wanted to be a speech pathologist. I believe my bubbly personality now is thanks to my childhood speech pathologist.

I have lived in the Hills District my whole life and am proud to be a local. I am married with two sons and love dancing, going on picnics, and playing with my children and nieces. Family is at the centre of my life and inspires everything I do.

Why Choose Me as Your Child’s Speech Pathologist?

  1. Consistent Care – Your child will always see me. No rotating clinicians, new graduates, or last-minute replacements. Just one familiar face, every time.

  2. Personal Investment – As the owner of Hear Me Roar, I pour my heart and soul into every session. Your child’s progress truly matters to me.

  3. I’m a Mum Too – I understand the joys and challenges of parenting. I’ll work with you in a way that’s practical, compassionate, and supportive.

  4. Experienced & Trusted – With over 10 years of experience, I bring proven strategies and a deep understanding of what works.
